Bruce McCulloch (The Kids in the Hall) returns to Comedy Country with his latest live show. Dark Purple Slice is Bruce’s latest solo live show mixing stand-up, autobiographical storytelling and quirky songs – all painted with Bruce’s trademark dark humour with a surprisingly warm human heart at the centre. The show premiered in 2025 in Calgary at One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo, and accompanies the release of Bruce’s new album of the same name. Dark Purple Slice is a hilarious new hang with your favourite of The Kids in the Hall promising a little something for fans of the legendary Canadian comedy troupe.
Bruce McCulloch
Bruce McCulloch is an actor, comedian, writer, and director. Perhaps best known for his work with the award-winning sketch troupe, The Kids in the Hall, whose latest season aired on Amazon Prime Video.
Bruce has three comedy albums: Shame-based Man, The Drunk Baby Project and his brand new release, Dark Purple Slice (2026). On stage, he has written or performed several one-man shows including Two-Headed Roommate, Jazz Stenographers, Slightly Bigger, and most recently Tales of Bravery & Stupidity. His first book, Let’s Start a Riot was released by Harper Collins.
Bruce has written and performed in Young Drunk Punk (a series inspired by his own life), Death Comes to Town, and This Blows (web series) also for CBC, and he created Carpoolers for ABC. He has directed such shows as SNL, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Schitt’s Creek, and Trailer Park Boys. Bruce recently produced and directed three seasons of sketch series, TallBoyz, for CBC, as well as sketch series, The Dessert, for Crave.
As an actor, he has appeared in numerous television shows such as Saturday Night Live, Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, Comedy Bang Bang, Workaholics, Nobodies, and even Anne of Green Gables.
Bruce has also written and/or directed several films including Dog Park starring Luke Wilson, Superstar starring Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell, Stealing Harvard starring Jason Lee, Leslie Mann and Tom Green, and Comeback Season starring Ray Liotta.
